Turn Your Walls to Chalkboards!

With space being an increasingly valuable commodity, you need to make the best possible use of your room. When every inch counts, you need to make sure that you don’t leave out any area which can be practically used untouched. So when you get tired of carrying around a pen and paper to make notes or lists of things you tend to forget, you turn around to look for another option. The answer lies in painting your home. How can home painting help you in this case, you ask? Well, there are paints that can help you to turn your average, boring wall into a useful tool – giving it more utility than the usual one of just holding up the roof of your home over your head. So how can you use such a paint to get more use out of your walls? It’s simple enough.

The first thing you need to do is prepare your walls. Usually, this means that you remove any old paint or wall paper that you still have sticking to your walls. Give your walls a good sanding using sand paper. This is followed by getting rid of the dust accumulated by sanding, which can be done by just using good old fashioned soap and water to cleanse and rinse you walls. Allow your walls enough time to dry, so that the moisture doesn’t end up damaging your walls when you layer a coat of paint on them. Priming your walls is generally important but all the more important here. The paints need to stick well to your walls, so that when you are erasing any chalk from the walls, the wall painting you’ve chosen doesn’t come off as well. Once you’ve allowed enough time for the primer to dry – you can use the specialised coats of paints that allow your walls to be used as chalkboards.

They’re available in different colours, which allow you a number choices in which shades you can apply. But remember that they might not be available everywhere in exactly the colour that you want, limiting your colour combination choices somewhat. You need to check with your local vendor about the availability of both the paint and the shades in which it is available. And once you’re sure it’s there, go right ahead planning your home decor! After all, not only are you using your walls to best effect, you are also doing your bit in saving paper. This is the perfect idea for those who are looking to save paper, are looking to use their space more effectively, or are just want a convenient place to scribble down stuff at a moment’s notice!
